Does anyone know what the original color was on the oil filler tube on a 1919 Dodge motor? Mine is painted white and I have scraped it and there is no other color under that. I don't believe mine was ever painted basic black. Could it have been natural steel or galvanized color? Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but also what makes me wonder is I have a Mechanics Instruction manual (reprint) and an original 1923 owners manual. They both have pictures of the engine in them and even though they are in black and white I can tell that the vacuum tank, the generator and steering box are clearly black, the oil fill tube is some other lighter color. Maybe its engine color green?? Anyone?
