WOW, I like it just the way it is. Looks like a coupe cab and doors. Are you sure it wasn't built that way? Aussie?

Hello Doug I have not had it for long and one of the reasons I brought it was that I liked the look of it - something different. I plan to keep it as a truck. It starts and runs well, it has been off the road for a number of years and although it is technically not road legal here in Zealand at this time I have driven it around a bit. It gets some attention. I am not sure of it's history at this stage although I did find the remains of what I believe it the original number plate on what looks like the original bracket so that may give me some clues. The frame work, being wooden, requires a lot of work so it won't be a five minute job. Regards Greg

Greg, are you sure this is not a factory convertion? Can you see any seems, either inside or outside, where the rear section was welded on? As I said the cab appears to have been a coupe. The rear section does not resemble any DB bodystyle that I know of that could have been hacked into this shape. But it doesn't look homemade from your picture. Could this have been an aftermarket convertion? Any body tags, maybe on the dash or firewall? To me the shape is good looking. In the US there were company that made convertions for coupes, most were from the 30's 40's and 50's. Most I've seen just remove the trunk lid and a small bed installs, either with wood or sheet metal.

Hello Doug
It has a plate on the LHS of the floor with the number A909 573
The engine number is D983-804.
I cannot see any obvious welding on the outside, the rear section looks like it has been shaped and fitted well originally. Although it is showing its age now it looks like it was a pretty skillfull modification. The floor and inner sides of the deck are wood lined. Could be a one off, that would be good for sure. Regards Greg

That number shows it being built late May of '27, series 124 with 116 inch wheelbase. The engine number is about right in the sequence of things. Can you post a picture of the right side of the engine?
