First a word of gratitude for those who gave their lives in service to our great nation -and to the families who sacrificed and mourn their valiant dead - Thank You.
I took a Memorial Day drive in the cool of the morning today, and upon my return I saw that I nearly had lost my crank. It was dangling from its hole where I've always let it ride, newbie that I am.
Has anyone ever lost their crank? Is it a risk letting it ride there? My route today was mostly very smooth road, but obviously a few bumps were all that was necessary. Texas Jim

Never leave it, there is a hungry alligator that lives inside there that will make a mess of things if it gets a hold of the crank. There is a crank hole cover that needs to be in place to keep from losing oil too. The square on the other end of the crank is to tighten it.
