Looking for info on the internal parts for the "shutter-stat" on a 31 DG 8. What does it look like? Any info on where I might find one? Located in the central part of South Carolina.

Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is a shutter stat ?

I was told by an older guy the term "shutterstat" was used to avoid confusion with "thermostat". Probably a more technical name for it, but that's the term the guy used. It's the housing on the front of the cylinder head that houses the thermostat but it also operates the shutters in front of the radiator. I'm told only the DG 8's with shutters had this on them and the cars with a grill panel in front of the radiator had a standard thermostat housing. I have the housing but no internal parts.

Was it also used on any other vehicles in the Chrysler family at that time ? Maybe literature from another model will have what you're looking for...

The 31 CG Chrysler Imperial or a CD8 perhaps.. ?

I think there is a fellow Dodge Brother on the AACA forum that goes by the screen name Gunsmoke that may have a DG8. Maybe send him a message to see if he can help out ?

Thanks for the help. Did a little research and judging from pictures I believe the unit on the Chrysler CD 8 is the same as mine. Thanks again !!

Plan to do some minor repair, paint and upholstery and drive it as much as possible !! Think it will be a nice ride when done. Have found that some DG 8 parts specific to the roadster are hard to find. Not sure door handles are correct, and need center bumper clamps, front and rear. Other than that, car is pretty much complete.

Does anyone have a photo that shows what the bumper clamps look like? Incase anyone has one that may help Steve.
