Strange story: two summers ago I left my 1915 Dodge in the driveway. When I came back to it later, there were a few loose wires under the dash, and the “Battery / Charge” gauge was completely pushed back away from the front of the dashboard. It was as if someone tried to “hot wire” my old touring car. What a getaway that would have been! Anyway, how should this gauge be correctly attached? At present it just floats. I don’t see any way of anchoring it from behind. Was the glass glued to the shiny round frame that is held by three long machine screws? Thanks, Mike, Vancouver

Because forums are meant to be inforumative, I will answer my own post, with picture. I think the gauge was originally attached to the shiny ring that screws into the dash. Because when I felt one and the other, both were rough surfaces, like a broken pot-metal casting. I used a bit of quick epoxy to reattach gauge to frame.
