I would like to replace wires on amp meter and switch since I have had to replace starter/cutout after rebuild. Have removed the 6 screws and stearing colum bracket but still will not come out. How do you remove it? Does windshield have to be removed?

Odell, Why do you wish to remove the instrument panel just to rewire the ammeter and/or ignition switch? Among other things making that difficult is the oil pressure gauge and associated plumbing and speedometer cable. The ignition switch should have sufficient wires behind to pull out far enough to rewire. The ammeter may also come out far enough to get to the wires. Obviously disconnect the battery before any electrical rewiring is to be done. Also if you do proceed to remove the dash, do not loose the wooden spacers behind those screws on either side and observe the orientation thereof. Good Luck
