i have a 1925 TouringDB. i need front bottom springs for seats. i have remainder. i need these covered and i need a touring top. Are there vendors who do this, reasonable and i am wondering if there is a kit, pattern or the like for the top for a local upholstery shop to use to complete. i also have a brand new engine put in 5-10 years ago. i will need instructions on what not to do and What to do before cranking. i do not want to screw up. The engine was completely redone by a gentleman in Montana before i bought the car. i am looking forward to finishing up the restoration. My son has a 24 DB Touring in Abilene Texas.

I'll offer a response to prepping engine to crank. I'm assuming its a running engine per your post, re-built etc. If its been sitting a good while ?? then with ignition off, give it a few cranks. Do you have a hand crank? This really just to satisfy semi-irrational worry that its not adequately lubed. Gearshift in neutral BTW! And you checked it has adequate coolant, and oil in crankcase. Do you know about the oil bobber? Does your car have stock vacuum tank n carb? Open the vac tank prime inlet, mine's a square-headed plug on top. Pour in mebbe 4-6 oz gas. Gravity does the rest. Unless you have a non-stock elec fuel pump, don't expect the fuel to flow without this priming. If a stock carb there may be an adjustable sleeve on the air inlet. A little hard to see, be sure its wide open. The air inlet is a short horizontal tube that looks like it enters the side of the block. This sleeve twists on the air intake to restrict cold air if desired. So expect it'll take a few cranks for the fuel vapor to vac up into the intake. I'd err on the side of choking it, let the choke open after a minute or so running. You also might err on side of retarding the timing (slide the lever DOWN). But my car doesn't like retarded timing, even in cold weather, go figure. Upon running move it fully back UP. Really that's all there is to it. I hope your elec starter works, otherwise dont give up hand cranking method. BTW once running look at the oil pressure. At idle don't freak if you only see 1.5 to 2 lbs, when you accelerate you should see the gauge move.

Thanks. I am copying a few of these responses to compare. Thanks again. I still need linkages. Desperate for linkage from distributor over and back to throttle

Milescook; I have a 1924 DB touring that still has, (I think), the original upholstery except for the front seat bottom which is just the springs. My son is an upholsterer, (Vinyl Destination, Brooklin Maine). Maine probably doesn't qualify as "local" but my car and cushions could be used make patterns or do the whole job. Probably this is of little or no use but there you have it. Sadly the frame and fabric for my cars' top is missing altogether. I've been looking for and at images to see what it consisted of and would appreciate any details of or leads to those parts.

Check with Snyder's Antique Auto Parts. They sell Model T and A parts but the business got started making seat springs which they still make. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/

Thanks for that lead. Regardless of whether or not I have them do any work it maybe of use to my upholsterer son. For the record: I don't like vinyl and wouldn't use it as any part of a business name. My son's apprentice training and expertise with is leather but the demand around sea water is for the hide of the endangered Nauga.
