I was going to get a new spring and see if there is a difference. Ye the cost is a concern that starting an engine job would spiral into a 4-5K job. I have no information on what has been done prior. So no clue on valve guides, I am adding lead additive. It sounds really good and quiet, starts easy, runs up to 30-35 no problem. I have no idea on the clutch condition or trans other than the seem to work fine. There are no serious leaks or smoke. With a 4.66 rear end it will not be chucking down the highway.
I have done only superficial work like gas tank and lines, carb, fuel pump. complete brake system replacement. Rear end and axles pulled and cleaned up. Pinion gear has a chip but seams ok, I had it checked and opinions were that its good, they cleaned of the rough edge. I did eventually find a replacement so I am ready if needed.
New front floors and other repairs on the wood parts of it.
I do need to do a new wiring harness.
