Pulled my transmission to rebuild clutch and have a few questions. 1917 Roadster aluminum transmission. Car serial number 157,755 Found a crack in transmission housing between top hole of rear transmission seal and top of transmission. Has anyone seen this before? Causes? My 4 ujoint housing bolts were tight and the top rear seal bolt was loose where hole is cracked. Wondering best method to repair? Helicoil? Stud? Lock tight? Epoxy? Going to clean up housing today and get a better look at it. Bolt still threads in hole with crack. Maybe bolt was bottomed out in past and caused crack. The other concern I have is ujoint had no felt or shims when I bought car. Wondering procedure for determining how many shims are used. Thanks, John
