I recently completed my 1929 DA Sedan 6 cylinder. I have a question about downshifting. First of all is it possible to downshift while driving? My car shifts great through all gears but when i hit a hill or need to downshift at a light it grinds and won't go into any lower gear until i am almost stopped.

I have a 4 speed 74 corvette I have driven for 30 years. I know this is a lot different, I don't want to damage my transmission. I have tried working the rpms, clutch and etc but all i get is grinding. When I say i hear grinding, I am not trying to force it in gear. I just feel it on the gear teeth. Is there something i'm missing?
I know you guys know your cars,
Thanks in advance for your help.

David, have you tried double clutching? When slowing and going from third to second push in the clutch, take it to neutral, leave out the clutch, back in while revving the engine slightly, then try second. I have a DA, they are not synchronized, so you have to match engine speed to gear to shift without grinding.
