1927 "H" pattern transmission. How and where do I check the oil level in the transmission? There is a black threaded capped tube that is located on the slanted floor, passenger side. The tube appears to connect down to the top of the transmission. Is this an air vent or a filler tube for the transmission? If it is not a filler tube, where do I add oil to the transmission. Have several manuals, can't find a manual that address this issue!

That tube is to grease the clutch throw out bearing. It should have a grease cup on the end, (1/2 turn every fifty miles). I suggest that you remove the sloped floorboards and cover on the bell housing so you can check the hose for leaks and make sure the grease is getting to the bearing.

There's a pipe plug for filling on the side of the transmission and drain on the bottom. Probably both are square for the wrench. The oil is so thick that filling it through the side isn't that easy or fun. I took the top off the transmission to pour it in.
