The engine starts right up when it is cold but once it warms up it will not start. It seems like the engine is flooded but it will not start even after we pull and dry out the plugs and clear the cylinders. We are leaning towards a weak coil. Any ideas? Also what type of fuel and octane is recommended?
Thanks, Hartland High School students.

I would suspect either coil or condenser, both cheap to replace. As '25 is positive ground the + side of the coil gets hooked to the points. Any condenser will work, I use VW Beetle as I have a bunch of new ones. You can test the condenser by just disconnecting it and running the engine. If your problem stops it was bad.

Hi Lonnie, am curious if yall solved the problem? Just now reading this and wondering if your timing was bad... an engine out of time may start when cold but upon reaching op temp and/or a happy fuel mix it can get fussy and not run. A semi educated guess on my part, I learned from a early 50's Chevy 216.

It looks like we got it, the Dodge will now start when the engine is hot and it runs very well. We test drove it again yesterday and started it many times after it was up to temperature. The students (one who is very good and rebuilds antique motorcycle) went through all the adjustments again, valves, timing and carb etc. and now the Dodge is running fine, ( knock on wood).
The students have really enjoyed working on it me included. Now we will be getting it ready to put in our little town's Memorial Day Parade at the of end of May.
Thank you for all your help!
Lonnie
